The countdown has officially begun! With just under a month and a half to go, fans of the Diablo franchise have been frantically scanning the internet for news on whether or not the game will live up to the expectations they have built up. Although Blizzard themselves have admitted to being a little nervous about the reception of the game (see quote below), they are nevertheless confident that true Diablo fans will be happy with the game once it has finally released.
“I too worry that we won’t be able to meet the expectations people have built up for themselves,” community manager Bashiok said on the Battle.net forums. “Part of my job is managing people’s expectations, so, eh, stop it. Stop thinking about how awesome this game could be.”
There are a few fortunate souls who have managed to land themselves a Diablo III Beta Key and have been able to experience part of what they can expect in the final version of the game. As one of those lucky few I will be launching a fully detailed beta blog from next week, describing my experiences with the gameplay, characters, bugs, etc.
Until then though I have some screenshots from other Beta members:
