2015 Exclusive Books Warehouse Sale FAQ

Q: Is there a list of books I can buy from if I cannot attend?
A: No, this is unfortunately not possible.

Q: Will there be children’s books available?
A: Yes! There will be a wide selection of children’s books available, but as these are always the first to sell out we recommend that those looking to buy them attend the sale early in order to avoid disappointment.

Q: Can I use my Fanatics card and Fanatics Coupons at the sale?
A: Yes!

Q: Will there be credit card facilities available?
A: There will definitely be credit card facilities available.

Q: Will every book on the sale be R20? Even if it is a Hardcover book?
A: Yes! Absolutely everything on the sale is R20.

Q: I am looking for a specific title or genre, can you tell me if there will be stock available?
A: There will be a wide range of stock available but we cannot guarantee availability of any specific titles or genres.

Q: Why is there no Warehouse Sale in Cape Town or Durban?
A: We only have one warehouse currently which is based at our Head Office in Johannesburg. In the past we have attempted to hold a mini Warehouse Sale in Durban and Cape Town, unfortunately those attempts were so unsuccessful that we discontinued any future plans. Additionally the cost of transporting the books would negate any profits we make and there would be nothing to give to our charities this year.

Q. I can’t make it on the Friday, will there still be good books left by Sunday?
A: Although there will be a large range of stock available we cannot guarantee that there will be stock still available on the Sunday or Monday, the sale will be on a first come first served basis.

Q: Which charities will benefit from the funds raised?
A: We have a very long list of literacy organisations that will benefit from the funds raised. They will be kept in an account for our CSI efforts and as always we will post updates on the ways the funds are being used on our social media pages. The majority of these funds will go towards helping libraries in underprivileged areas.

Q: Can I order books from the warehouse sale online?
A: No, the sale is a physical sale and will not be available on our website.

Q: Will there be dedicated parking for those attending the sale?
A: There will not be dedicated parking and attendees are asked to please be considerate of those working in the area when parking. Please make sure you do not park anyone in or obstruct the entrances to the businesses in the area. There is a Gautrain bus stop close to our offices, but please be aware that the buses only run on weekdays so there will not be a service available for the Saturday or Sunday for Gautrain commuters. When taking the Gautrain to our offices you will need to disembark at the Sandton station, take the Gallo Manor (S2) bus route and get off the bus at stop S2-6. From the stop you will need to walk down Dartfield Road and take the first turn on your right into Commerce Crescent. Our offices and Warehouse are at the corner and will be clearly marked on the day.

  5. Jane July 17th, 2015 at 1:39 pm #

Will the books be accessible to someone in a wheelchair or is this not feasible?

    • Cerys July 17th, 2015 at 1:41 pm #

      Hi Jane

The sale will be accessible to wheelchairs, however we do advise caution if you are planning on attending on the first day as there will be quite a crowd which may make it difficult to navigate through the tables.

  6. Kate July 19th, 2015 at 4:58 pm #

Will there be a list of books available to check through, even a list on a computer system, that we will be able to check when at the sale? Or will we just have to find the books on the tables set out? Will the tables be in sections or will there just be an accumulation of books to wade through?

    • Cerys July 20th, 2015 at 5:26 am #

      Hi Kate

There will not be a list of the books available. As always we will try and have the books set out in sections at the start of the sale, but due to the sheer volume of attendees we cannot guarantee that staff on duty will be able to keep the books in order throughout the day.

  7. F.B July 20th, 2015 at 11:30 am #

    Hi

Will Classics be included in this sale?

    • Cerys July 20th, 2015 at 11:37 am #

      Hi FB

There will be a wide range of stock available but we cannot guarantee availability of any specific titles or genres.

  8. ERNA July 20th, 2015 at 2:31 pm #

The R20 per book, that is now different to the past when we paid per kilogram?

    • Cerys July 20th, 2015 at 3:36 pm #

      Hi Erna

It is indeed different. Charging per book makes it easier for us to keep track of the funds raised for our charities.

  9. Lisa July 21st, 2015 at 2:35 pm #

On estimate, how many books will be available in general?

How will you monitor the amount of people if there is a mass amount of people?

  10. Zoleka July 23rd, 2015 at 1:05 pm #

I am soo excited…Why are you not doing the sale in Strydom Park anymore?

    • Cerys July 23rd, 2015 at 1:12 pm #

      Hi Zoleka

Our warehouse is no longer situated in Strydom Park.

  11. Sabelo July 28th, 2015 at 6:29 pm #

Is there a limit to the number of books per individual?

    • Cerys July 30th, 2015 at 11:58 am #

      There is no limit.

  12. Andrew July 29th, 2015 at 4:06 pm #

I met a family with 3 kids today, in Pta. They had taken the day to attend the Sale, but were so far back in the queue, and because of the limitation on numbers at any one time, calculated that their wait would be several hours, so gave up. What a shame.

  13. Elizabeth July 29th, 2015 at 6:39 pm #

I visited the warehouse today around 11 o’clock and was extremely disappinted that there were almost NO children’s books. The sole purpose of my visit was to find books for my 4 year old son! I will certainly never go to the warehouse sale again!!!

    • Cerys July 30th, 2015 at 11:57 am #

      Hi Elizabeth

We did make it absolutely clear that the children’s books would sell out quickly. We apologise if you were disappointed but thank you for joining us and helping us to raise funds for children who do not have access to books at all.
