Man on Ground: South African Premier at the Jozi Film Festival

The Jozi Film Festival is a brand new annual film festival that will showcase films made by Johannesburg, Gauteng and South African filmmakers as well as international films about the city of Johannesburg. The festival will be opening tomorrow and will be running until Sunday the 12th of February at the Bioscope Theatre in the Maboneng Precinct, Johannesburg. The festival will be screening new entries in the South African film industry with titles like How to Steal 2 Million, Retribution and Semi-Soet.

On Friday, the festival will be opened with a premiere of Man on Ground, a film by Akin Omotoso – a Nigerian born and South African based film-director. Man on Ground is a story of xenophobia in South Africa, a story that follows a young Nigerian man who disappears amidst violent rioting in Johannesburg and his brother who spends one night unfolding the mystery behind the disappearance.

Man on Ground has been selected for screening at the Toronto International Film Festival where it will enjoy its world premier. The Toronto International Film Festival will be held from 8-18 September 2012.
