<p>Have you purchased an ebook from <a href="http://www.exclus1ves.co.za/ebooks/">Exclus1ves.co.za</a>? Here&#8217;s a handy guide on <span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;">downloading your ebook to your PC or Mac, and reading it on your eReader (including Kobo), iPad or Android tablet <img src='http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </span></p>
<p><em>Please note that <strong>Amazon Kindle eReaders are not compatible with our ebook selection</strong>. Further, please note that <strong>we do not refund accidental ebook purchases</strong> &#8211; we strongly recommend you check your device for compatibility first.</em></p>
<hr />
<hr />
&nbsp;<br />
<span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><strong>Downloading an eBook: the Basics</strong></span><br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>Step one: Get Adobe Digital Editions (it&#8217;s free!)</strong></p>
<div align="center"><a href="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Authorise-computer.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-5266" title="Authorise computer" src="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Authorise-computer-300x160.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="160" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/" target="_blank">Download and install Adobe Digital Editions on your desktop or laptop</a> (note: this software is <u>not the same</u> as Adobe Reader)</li>
<li>Once you&#8217;ve installed Adobe Digital Editions, open it, click the &#8220;Library&#8221; tab and choose <strong>&#8220;Authorise Computer&#8221;</strong> from the drop-down menu (see circled area in image above &#8211; click to enlarge the image)</li>
<li><a href="https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership/index.cfm">Register an Adobe ID if necessary</a>, then authorise your computer with your Adobe ID (email address) and password</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Step two: Get your ebook from your MyExclusives Library</strong></p>
<div align="center"><a href="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Download-eBook.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-5264" title="Download eBook" src="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Download-eBook-300x133.png" alt="My Exclusives" width="300" height="133" border="1" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li>Keep Adobe Digital Editions open (or open it if you&#8217;ve closed it) and navigate to your <a href="http://www.exclus1ves.co.za/myexclusives/library/" target="_blank">MyExclusives Digital Library</a> (see image &#8211; click to enlarge)</li>
<li>Click to download the file, then choose &#8220;Open&#8221; when prompted; Adobe Digital Editions will download your ebook</li>
<li>Done! Enjoy your read <img src='http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>A few notes to bear in mind:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You can authorise Adobe Digital Editions on up to five devices per Adobe ID, including desktops, laptops, tablets and non-Kindle eReaders, and put your entire eBook library on each</li>
<li>For more information, see the <a href="http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/" target="_blank">Adobe Digital Editions troubleshooting and support page</a> and the <a href="http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/faq/" target="_blank">Adobe Digital Editions FAQ page</a></li>
</ul>

<hr />
&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><strong>Reading Exclusives.co.za ebooks on your Kobo eReader</strong></span></p>
<p>Have you purchased a Kobo eReader? Good news! All your Exclusives.co.za ebooks are compatible with your Kobo.</p>
<ul>
<li>Follow the <b>Downloading an eBook: the Basics</b> steps directly above to put your Exclusives.co.za eBook on your laptop or desktop computer</li>

</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<hr />
<hr />
&nbsp;<br />
<span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><strong>Reading eBooks on Your iPad and Android Tablet</strong></span><br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>iPad and Android</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Overdrive vs Bluefire</span></p>
<p>For tablets, the two best programs for reading eBooks are the <strong>Overdrive Media Console</strong> (<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/overdrive-media-console-library/id366869252?mt=8" target="_blank">iTunes</a> | <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole" target="_blank">Android Play Store</a>) and the <strong>Bluefire reader app</strong> (<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/za/app/bluefire-reader/id394275498?mt=8" target="_blank">iTunes</a> | <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bluefirereader" target="_blank">Android Play Store</a>).</p>
<p>The Overdrive Media Console is directly linked to the Exclusives.co.za website: you can download eBooks directly into your tablet from our site, without having to use Adobe Digital Editions (though you will still need an <a href="https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership/index.cfm">Adobe ID</a>). However, <strong>Overdrive only works for ePub files</strong>, not PDF files.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Downloading eBooks via Overdrive</span></p>
<p><img src="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Overdrive.jpg" alt="" title="Overdrive" width="124" height="124" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5652" /></a></p>
<ul>
<li>Download and install the free Overdrive Media Console (<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/overdrive-media-console-library/id366869252?mt=8" target="_blank">iTunes</a> | <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.mediaconsole" target="_blank">Android Play Store</a>), then authorise it with your Adobe ID</li>
<li>Follow the normal purchasing procedure for eBooks on your tablet</li>
<li>After your payment has been confirmed, visit <a href="http://www.exclus1ves.co.za/myexclusives">My Exclusives</a> and click on the &#8220;Digital Library&#8221; link</li>
<li>Click on the &#8220;Download&#8221; link next to the title that you have purchased</li>
<li>Depending on the browser you are using you will be presented with one of two options: &#8220;Download&#8221; or &#8220;Open&#8221;</li>
<li>If you select &#8220;Download&#8221;, the eBook file will be saved to your device; after the download has completed, visit the location you have downloaded the file to and open the file with the Overdrive Media Console</li>
<li>If you select &#8220;Open&#8221;, the Overdrive Media Console will automatically start downloading your eBook</li>
</ul>
<p>Once the process has completed, select your book from the bookshelf and start reading!</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Downloading eBooks via Bluefire</span></p>
<p><a href="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Bluefire.png"><img src="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Bluefire.png" alt="" title="Bluefire" width="124" height="124" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5653" /></a></p>
<p>The best option for ePubs and PDFs is the free Bluefire Reader app, which supports both types of files.</p>
<div align="center"><a href="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Adding-to-Bluefire-Reader.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-5260" title="Adding to Bluefire Reader" src="http://blog.exclus1ves.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Adding-to-Bluefire-Reader-300x163.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="163" /></a></div>
<ul>
<li>Download and install the Bluefire app (<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/za/app/bluefire-reader/id394275498?mt=8" target="_blank">iTunes</a> | <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bluefirereader" target="_blank">Android Play Store</a>), then authorise it with your Adobe ID</li>
<li>Purchase and download an eBook from Exclusives.co.za, via Adobe Digital Editions, following the steps in the first section of this post</li>
<li>Open iTunes and navigate to the &#8220;Apps&#8221; tab for your device, then scroll down to the &#8220;File sharing&#8221; section (see image &#8211; click to enlarge)</li>
<li>Select the Bluefire app and drop your eBook into the documents section, or add it via the &#8220;Add&#8221; button, as shown in the screenshot above</li>
<li>On Windows machines, Adobe Digital Editions eBooks are found in Documents &gt; My Digital Editions</li>
<li>Once your eBook appears in the list of files, click &#8220;Sync&#8221; and it will be added to the Bluefire app on your tablet.</li>
</ul>
<p>Done!</p>

&nbsp;<br />
<span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><strong>Reading eBooks on Your Black-and-White eReader</strong></span></p>
<p><em>Please note that you cannot transfer Exclusives.co.za eBooks to an Amazon Kindle &#8211; unless you are using the Kindle Fire, an Android tablet that allows side-loading of eBooks via the two apps mentioned above.</em></p>
<p>Because of the variety of eInk-based readers on the market, it&#8217;s not possible to provide specific instructions here. These general instructions, however, will work in almost all cases.</p>
<ul>
<li>Authorise your eReader with your Adobe ID</li>
<li>Purchase and download an eBook from Exclusives.co.za, via Adobe Digital Editions, following the steps in the first section of this post</li>
<li>Connect your eReader and your desktop or laptop via USB, open the eReader&#8217;s library folder and drag your downloaded eBook (usually found in Documents &gt; My Digital Editions) into the library folder</li>
<li>Once the transfer is complete, the eBook will appear on your eReader.</li>
