Have you purchased an ebook from Exclus1ves.co.za? Here’s a handy guide on downloading your ebook to your PC or Mac, and reading it on your eReader (including Kobo), iPad or Android tablet

Please note that Amazon Kindle eReaders are not compatible with our ebook selection. Further, please note that we do not refund accidental ebook purchases – we strongly recommend you check your device for compatibility first.

• Download and install Adobe Digital Editions on your desktop or laptop (note: this software is not the same as Adobe Reader)
• Once you’ve installed Adobe Digital Editions, open it, click the “Library” tab and choose “Authorise Computer” from the drop-down menu (see circled area in image above – click to enlarge the image)
• Register an Adobe ID if necessary, then authorise your computer with your Adobe ID (email address) and password

Step two: Get your ebook from your MyExclusives Library

• Keep Adobe Digital Editions open (or open it if you’ve closed it) and navigate to your MyExclusives Digital Library (see image – click to enlarge)
• Click to download the file, then choose “Open” when prompted; Adobe Digital Editions will download your ebook
• Done! Enjoy your read

A few notes to bear in mind:

• You can authorise Adobe Digital Editions on up to five devices per Adobe ID, including desktops, laptops, tablets and non-Kindle eReaders, and put your entire eBook library on each

Reading Exclusives.co.za ebooks on your Kobo eReader

Have you purchased a Kobo eReader? Good news! All your Exclusives.co.za ebooks are compatible with your Kobo.

Overdrive vs Bluefire

For tablets, the two best programs for reading eBooks are the Overdrive Media Console (iTunes | Android Play Store) and the Bluefire reader app (iTunes | Android Play Store).

The Overdrive Media Console is directly linked to the Exclusives.co.za website: you can download eBooks directly into your tablet from our site, without having to use Adobe Digital Editions (though you will still need an Adobe ID). However, Overdrive only works for ePub files, not PDF files.

Downloading eBooks via Overdrive

• Download and install the free Overdrive Media Console (iTunes | Android Play Store), then authorise it with your Adobe ID
• Follow the normal purchasing procedure for eBooks on your tablet
• After your payment has been confirmed, visit My Exclusives and click on the “Digital Library” link
• Click on the “Download” link next to the title that you have purchased
• Depending on the browser you are using you will be presented with one of two options: “Download” or “Open”
• If you select “Download”, the eBook file will be saved to your device; after the download has completed, visit the location you have downloaded the file to and open the file with the Overdrive Media Console
• If you select “Open”, the Overdrive Media Console will automatically start downloading your eBook

Once the process has completed, select your book from the bookshelf and start reading!

Downloading eBooks via Bluefire

The best option for ePubs and PDFs is the free Bluefire Reader app, which supports both types of files.

• Download and install the Bluefire app (iTunes | Android Play Store), then authorise it with your Adobe ID
• Purchase and download an eBook from Exclusives.co.za, via Adobe Digital Editions, following the steps in the first section of this post
• Open iTunes and navigate to the “Apps” tab for your device, then scroll down to the “File sharing” section (see image – click to enlarge)
• Select the Bluefire app and drop your eBook into the documents section, or add it via the “Add” button, as shown in the screenshot above
• On Windows machines, Adobe Digital Editions eBooks are found in Documents > My Digital Editions
• Once your eBook appears in the list of files, click “Sync” and it will be added to the Bluefire app on your tablet.

Please note that you cannot transfer Exclusives.co.za eBooks to an Amazon Kindle – unless you are using the Kindle Fire, an Android tablet that allows side-loading of eBooks via the two apps mentioned above.

Because of the variety of eInk-based readers on the market, it’s not possible to provide specific instructions here. These general instructions, however, will work in almost all cases.

• Authorise your eReader with your Adobe ID
• Purchase and download an eBook from Exclusives.co.za, via Adobe Digital Editions, following the steps in the first section of this post
• Connect your eReader and your desktop or laptop via USB, open the eReader’s library folder and drag your downloaded eBook (usually found in Documents > My Digital Editions) into the library folder
• Once the transfer is complete, the eBook will appear on your eReader.
