The Freddie Mercury Debate

Freddie Mercury, undoubtedly the best known name in the entertainment industry. Freddie was a global icon, and to this day is still considered to be one of the greatest musicians of all time.

During a discussion in the office today we got onto the topic of the highly anticipated biopic of Freddie Mercury’s life. Sacha Baron Cohen (of Borat and The Dictator fame) has been chosen to play the part of Freddie Mercury and there has been much speculation and discussion over whether or not he is the best choice for the role. The film has been approved by Freddie’s surviving band members (Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon) and so too has the choice to cast Sacha Baron Cohen.

There are two singers who have been getting a lot of attention in social media lately for “channeling” Freddie Mercury, they are Matthew Bellamy of Muse and Eric Sean Nally of Foxy Shazam.

What we would like to know is who you, our loyal Fanatics and Bookworms, think would be the best choice to play the part of Freddie Mercury? Post your choice of best Freddie in the comments section below :)

Personally Sacha Baron Cohen looks kind of like Freddy whenever he can sing the part I don’t know.

It’s difficult I think for movie makers truly capture a legend like Freddy including his voice.

One guy that got it right as well (to bad he is such dumb***) is Robbie Williams – Think “We are the Champions” that was used in A Knights Tale. He rocked that song to the heavens
