  2. Monique Bernic July 13th, 2015 at 4:25 pm #

I would do anything! Including selling my body. Haha. Ok not really. I would camp out all night, dance the Macarena for entrance, sing a Justin Bieber song! ANYTHING!

would give up chocolate for a week

I’d donate all of my beloved books to a charity 🙂
( or camp outside your warehouse)

  9. Pumeza July 13th, 2015 at 4:34 pm #

As a primary school English teacher, I would climb the highest mountain, unfit as I am, to get to the warehouse sale.

  10. Anandie Vosloo July 13th, 2015 at 4:34 pm #

I would do something like this: enter a competition for the first time in my life 😉

  11. Lucia July 13th, 2015 at 4:35 pm #

I would hire my kids out to wash cars for tickets. Ok…. I’ll get a book or two for them too to say thank you.

  12. Jade July 13th, 2015 at 4:36 pm #

I would read war and peace in emoji just to get my hands on a golden ticket.

  13. Kim Viljoen July 13th, 2015 at 4:36 pm #

Hi. I am a single mother who loves to read and has to rely on lending books to get my reading fix. Getting a golden ticket will let me buy some of my own books.

  14. Msizi July 13th, 2015 at 4:37 pm #

I would literally take a day off work and spend the whole day at Exclusive warehouse “sorting out” the books at the warehouse for the sale the following day

  15. Anne Rose July 13th, 2015 at 4:39 pm #

I would love to buy some classics for my collection for university.

  16. Mariette Sakelliou July 13th, 2015 at 4:40 pm #

I will donate some of my books to a kids home in my area!

  17. Roselle July 13th, 2015 at 4:41 pm #

To show how much I want the ticket, I might find a frog and lick it. It might be yucky, but it might mean I’d get lucky. I might even stand on my head if it means I would get books that I could read in bed. I would stay up for a day to get my way, but I might get so tired I’d start to sway. Instead, what I will do is submit my humble poem to you

  18. Sonia Greyling July 13th, 2015 at 4:42 pm #

I would read all the books in the warehouse sale…wait…I will enjoy that too much…I would dress up like a ninja and leopard crawl into the sale after which I would carry everybody’s books for them (cause lets face it THAT is the most exhausting part of the warehouse sale)

  19. Abigail July 13th, 2015 at 4:42 pm #

I would hire out a laboratory, develop transformation potions, take a potion to turn me into a small, but versatile creature, hide myself inside a box, get a group of ninjas to sneak into the facility in the dead of night, drop into the building and leave me and my box inside the room, while they leave silently. I take a human potion, return to my normal form, and stealthily await the opening so that I may be the first to get a chance to collect a big stack of happiness and magic to fuel me for the rest of the year.
Piece of cake. All this at the risk of never turning back into a human 😉

  20. Ra'eesa July 13th, 2015 at 4:43 pm #

Well…I already put in sick leave at work for the sale … I will swop my husband and kiddies for a ticket. I will camp outside from now till than in a cardboard box and use the same box for the sale annnnnd (on a serious note) I would like to buy and donate most of the books to the school I work at. The childen are enthusiastic readers yet due to the insufficient amount of books , they find it challenging to expand their literary worlds.

  21. Susann July 13th, 2015 at 4:44 pm #

I would so camp out in front of your HQ! I need a golden ticket!

  22. Stefan July 13th, 2015 at 4:44 pm #

Anything! I mean it. Seriously though. Yes. Anything.

  23. Jaime July 13th, 2015 at 4:44 pm #

I am 10 and reading is my life!!! I would eat a piece of broccoli!!!!! Please pick me!!! Pretty please!!!!

  24. Vicky July 13th, 2015 at 4:45 pm #

Firstly I’d need to get another bookshelf because every time there is the warehouse sale, I leave with enough books to fill up a bookshelf. Then I’d take a day of annual leave to make sure that I could spend the whole day looking through the warehouse looking for all the little treasures that you normally wouldn’t find at the stores.

  25. yolande maritz July 13th, 2015 at 4:46 pm #

If I win a golden ticket I promise that I would buy 50 books at the sale and also one book every month for a year at Exclusive Books! I will also write book reviews om every book I read if you want me to!!!

  26. Isabel Greyling July 13th, 2015 at 4:47 pm #

I would camp out in front of the warehouse really early, quote a piece of my favourite book, write an poem to books and book lovers and maybe even bake book cookies for the hard working and shopping book worms

  27. Vicky July 13th, 2015 at 4:47 pm #

I would love to win this opportunity not only to stock up my home library but to also be able to donate books that I purchase to an old age home and an underprivileged school <3

  28. Kerry-Lee Kelly July 13th, 2015 at 4:47 pm #

I’m a cake lover and bake nearly everyday just to have sweet treats in the house. Everyone loves my ‘coloured cakes’ as they are bright and tasty. If I win I’d have to make one for you.

  29. zarina July 13th, 2015 at 4:49 pm #

I would literally take my last savings, book a ticket to johannesburg and shop till i drop (or at least as much as Mango would allow me to take back!) But even better, take my son with, and then we both can shop plus he is small so how luggage can he really have?!?!. Score!!!!more space for books!! Plus its for a worthy cause, so everyone scores!! Whoop whoop!!!

  30. Ariane July 13th, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

Cooking has been an absolute passion since an early age, but cooking books are super expensive meaning I can’t always get my hands on my favorite ones! But having this huge sale gives me the perfect opportunity to shop until I drop and reach the next level of inspiration!

  31. Annie July 13th, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

I would tattoo the words “I love books” on me of it meant I could get a ticket!!

  32. Thato Mabena July 13th, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

I’m a huge book fan and I would give up coffee for a week or two. I would like to get this ticket

  33. Nicole Best July 13th, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

A few magical times a year,
    Exclusive Books warehouse sales appear!
I always leave with armfuls of stories,
    Leaving my budget rather gory.

Now a Golden Ticket’s up for grabs
And I hope my gift of gab is fab –
What would I give up? I’ll tell you!
    Listen close as acts accrue…

I’d ditch music, TV, bathing –
Though the comments might be scathing!
Chuck the make-up, face cream, toner –
Nose in books, I’d be a loner.

Coffee, chocolate, all the treats –
With novels, who needs fancy eats?
Wine and cigars would be over…
I’d be rolling in literary clover!

My hair could frizz, my house get dusty –
    Book vanillin never smells musty.
    I’d even give up electricity…
Oh, nevermind, Eskom’s done that for me!

If you give me that Golden Ticket,
My library will be even more wicked!
The warehouse sale’s my chocolate factory –
Exclusive Books, just call me Charlie!

  34. Michelle Retief July 13th, 2015 at 4:53 pm #

I would milk a cat in the rain while giving it a bath

  35. Michelle vermaak July 13th, 2015 at 4:53 pm #

I would leave home at the crack of dawn to miss rush hour traffic through Sandton to get to your warehouse in time to buy heaps of books for my 3 children because reading is the future. I would also stock up on children’s books to donate to the preschool in ivory park that my sons prep school does community service at.

  36. NatashA Desai July 13th, 2015 at 4:53 pm #

I would use my ticket as an opportunity to buy books to help underprivileged schools in diepsloot that my daughters school supports.
Learning to read is not suppose to be a luxury, it’s a right that every child should have.

  37. amanda July 13th, 2015 at 4:54 pm #

A whole new world of fictional lives that I can get lost in and experience vicariously

  38. Angelica July 13th, 2015 at 4:55 pm #

I would not only sort through my existing books, for more to be added, to my donation pile of books but I would also (and I do plan on) find time to teach people how to read. As reading for me is an escape from reality. It stimulates my imagination as well as influences who I am and I cannot thank my mother enough for having the patience to teach me how to read. (My daily tantrums never deterred her.) I would like to pass this skill on to others, so that they may be able to satisfy their curiosity and continuously learn. With books I can do this.

  39. A Zabiegaj July 13th, 2015 at 4:56 pm #

I love books. I am pensioner and this is only the way I can afford to buy the books

  40. Kerry-Lee Kelly July 13th, 2015 at 4:57 pm #

Do the happy dance and bake cake for the staff that are going to work so hard

  41. Alexandra Parry July 13th, 2015 at 4:58 pm #

    Hi there

75% of the books I purchase I will donate to the local SPCA (near my house in North Riding) so they can sell them the proceeds of the books will go to the many animals they rescue. I will supply proof of this to an Exclusive Representative of course.

    Many thanks

    Alex

  42. Karien July 13th, 2015 at 5:01 pm #

I would give up coffee for month (might just kill me)

  43. Danielle July 13th, 2015 at 5:02 pm #

To win a golden ticket – Oh my God! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory reference!

I would stalk the Exclusive books Facebook page. I would dream about scouring through the shelves and stakes of books. Oh wait, I already do! I love knowing that every purchase that I make will go to a good cause.. so I would donate a few days of my time to helping refugee kids in SA.

(P.S. my mom and I always attend the sale together. If my golden ticket doesn’t get to include her then I don’t want it. Not to sound ungrateful but, I love the time we spend together at the sale each year!

  44. Omphile Mongana July 13th, 2015 at 5:04 pm #

I would w the most favourite aunt come home coming time! This ticket will make me score tons of points!

  45. Rakhi July 13th, 2015 at 5:04 pm #

Along with grabbing a selection of my choice of books, I’d also grab stacks of books for the kiddies that don’t have the privilege of owning their own books. I’d also individually wrap the books and have a ‘lucky dip’ for my book club

  46. Janice Leibowitz July 13th, 2015 at 5:05 pm #

I’d love a golden ticket to your Warehouse Sale. No drastic promises, no wild aspirations to do weird and wonderful things to get one, just a lifelong love of books, reading and all that’s book related, and a genuine belief that each time you open a book you have the opportunity to wander off on the most incredible adventures. Books create wonder, inspire the imagination and encourage creativity. That is all.

  47. Cecilia du Plessis July 13th, 2015 at 5:05 pm #

*I will walk 500 miles, and I will walk 500 more, just to be the girl that gets a ticket, and buys some books forever more* And I will sing that song loudly to everyone that comes to the sale 😉

  48. Joleen July 13th, 2015 at 5:09 pm #

I would take unpaid leave to enable me to get to the sale and buy some extra books for my toddler’s crèche to encourage reading from a young age.

  49. Naledi Khumalo July 13th, 2015 at 5:10 pm #

I would stand at the traffic light in a book costume handing out flyers promoting the sale.

  50. Boitshepo July 13th, 2015 at 5:10 pm #

For that ticket, I would walk 50 kilometres from my home in Northern Pretoria to Exclusive head office.
Not only that, but I’d also spend the chilly night outside the door.

  51. Roxanne Castro July 13th, 2015 at 5:10 pm #

I would absolutely love nothing more than to win one of these tickets! As an avid reader you will constantly find me with my nose in a book. In fact, every birthday and every christmas all I ever ask for is books 🙂 I have a long list of classics I would love to add to my collection, even thinking of putting in leave to get into the sale nice and early. I would really really appreciate an amazing golden ticket 🙂

  52. Caryn July 13th, 2015 at 5:11 pm #

For every five books I buy, one will be donated to a pro-literacy cause, and I’ll pull a further one off my home bookshelf to go the same way. Forty percent to a good cause. I’d love people in our country to grow up loving books; it’s a crime that there isn’t better access.

  53. Natasha July 13th, 2015 at 5:15 pm #

I LOVE books! This will quite literally be like Charlie and the chocolate factory with books for me. I would sacrifice my dignity and read a Twilight book for a golden ticket.

  54. velia pellow July 13th, 2015 at 5:15 pm #

I will bake a nice big chocolate cake for the staff at the book sale if I can get my hands on a golden ticket.

  55. Sanchia Sukraj July 13th, 2015 at 5:16 pm #

I would donate half of the books I buy to the reading drive I have going on at work and I would keep the other half because, I have I lived a thousand lives, why not a thousand more? Cause “I am Ring winner and luck wearer ; and I am Barrel rider.” cause I knew the half blood prince! Cause it’s elementary 😀

  56. Maor July 13th, 2015 at 5:17 pm #

I’d undergo a sex change! Yes, I want that ticket that badly!!!!!

  57. Denyse Ancill July 13th, 2015 at 5:19 pm #

    I would stop smoking

  58. Judi Dilchert July 13th, 2015 at 5:19 pm #

I would love to buy new books for the old age home down the road and some children’s books for our schools Masimanbane school project as well.
Not excluding what I would like for my family to 🙂

  59. Boitshepo July 13th, 2015 at 5:19 pm #

For that ticket, I’d walk 50 kilometres from my home in Northern Pretoria, to Exclusive head office.
Not only that, but I’d also sleep at the door, in this chilly weather.

  60. Lerato Mbangeni July 13th, 2015 at 5:20 pm #

I would read all the comments in under a News24 article, read a book full of typos, sit through a session where someone gives me spoilers of all my favourite series, eat guacamole with peas in it, listen to a grammatically incorrect 2 hour speech and give up cheese for 6 months.

  61. Inet Krige July 13th, 2015 at 5:21 pm #

I would not give up my valuable reading time, as I would need it so much more! I would however give up my time, as I will be browsing for hours in that warehouse.

  62. Tamara July 13th, 2015 at 5:22 pm #

I would give a day towards a literacy program and read the complete Dr Seuss collection to kids at a children’s home

  63. Jo July 13th, 2015 at 5:22 pm #

What would I do to get a ticket? Anything!! I would even come and help pack books on the 27th in preparation for the sale 😉 I already have the 28th and 29th off work 🙂

  64. Riana July 13th, 2015 at 5:24 pm #

I would come to the sale dressed up as Death from the Terry Pratchett Discworld series and speak to your customers in capital letters.
I would quote my favorite lines from books like Good Omens and break into song every time I see one of my favorite books on the table. (Any song on my iPod will turn into the Best of Queen, after 5 min at the sale)

  65. Muneerah July 13th, 2015 at 5:26 pm #

No-one believed Charlie could ever get a golden ticket to the chocolate factory, but he did. A little magic and a lot of hope goes a long way, or so books have told me. I can’t promise to do anything ridiculous for this ticket, but I do know this golden ticket would make a friend of mine very happy and birthday gifts are supposed to be happy. I also get to be friend of the year. And so the magic of books in preserving more than just history and stories, lives on. All credit to the people (exclusive books) who bring the surrealism to our doors

  66. Rashika Ramdayal July 13th, 2015 at 5:28 pm #

I would get all the books I need to give out in hampers for when I host the SeanCovey 7 Habits workshop at the primary and secondary school I attended. I would love to give back to the community that made me who I am today. I also wanna build my own personal library.

  67. Brigitte July 13th, 2015 at 5:28 pm #

Ahhhhhhh…. I’ll quote my most favourite quote in the entire world….
“Reading is dreaming with your eyes open”.- Yoyo
It’s as simple as that…. I’m a dreamer please make my dreams come true!
I’ll buy 100 books (and possibly then some!)

  68. Veradana July 13th, 2015 at 5:29 pm #

I will wear crocs in public and even take aa selfie of me wearing ccrocs and post itt on all of my ssocial media accounts

  69. Rashika Ramdayal July 13th, 2015 at 5:30 pm #

For a golden ticket I would get the company I work for to pledge R5000 to helping kids read.

  70. Almie July 13th, 2015 at 5:32 pm #

I would walk barefoot for a whole year (summer and WINTER!)!!!

  71. Kate July 13th, 2015 at 5:32 pm #

I would do anything for a ticket for my mum, the most incredible human on this earth! She is an absolute book worm and will not let the heritage and history of beautiful books die!

  72. Raksha Pachoo July 13th, 2015 at 5:34 pm #

I would first run around in a circle screaming a million times. Shave my hair off, do the hokey pokey while singing I will survive whilst plotting to take over the world and break into a deli and stuff all the different types of meat in my shirt Lady Gaga style. Then run down the street screaming Moby Dick and a Dementor are doing the nasty in James’ Giant Peach! Then finally rally a possie and march towards the Exclusive Books Warehouse whilst impersonating Rafiki from the Lion King. I would pretty much do anything. Books… my Precious!!!!

  73. Kirsti Brocklehurst July 13th, 2015 at 5:34 pm #

So, I would probably do just about anything, including go to a Justin Bieber concert! Would love this opportunity more than anything!

  74. Safiyyah July 13th, 2015 at 5:34 pm #

I will start a reading group for under privilege kids who don’t have the fortune of learning from books. I would spare my time every weekend just to read to them.

  75. Leone July 13th, 2015 at 5:35 pm #

Our baby is soon to arrive and we would like to buy her books so she can become a book worm just like her mommy!!!!

  76. Nikki July 13th, 2015 at 5:37 pm #

Donate all the books I have at home to charity! And there is a WHOLE LOT!!!

  77. joanne holroyd July 13th, 2015 at 5:38 pm #

I would make sure I didn’t waste the oppertunity! I would buy books for myself, gifts for my friends and family, and also some children’s books to donate to our office collection to be donated to a children’s home.

  78. Lindie July 13th, 2015 at 5:40 pm #

I will refrain from buying any books, new or second hand, until the warehouse sale if this means I can get a ticket. Not buying a book for a good deal is much like giving up an addiction…but I will do it! That and this is the first competition ever that I enter!

  79. Rochelle de Beer July 13th, 2015 at 5:43 pm #

I would come in my pj’s if it will guarantee me a ticket. I week also donate a box of books to charity.

  80. Wilma July 13th, 2015 at 5:45 pm #

Ok I am the unethical one [desperate…] – will put up boards outside the H/Q indicating change of sale venue and maybe the same on social media – hoping to get in first….

  81. Tamzyn July 13th, 2015 at 5:54 pm #

I would give all the books iv already read to charity! Spread the love of reading!

  82. Tshepiso Rampho July 13th, 2015 at 5:54 pm #

I’d dedicate my time reading stories to children in hospitals, orphanages or schools. I’d teach a child to read.

  83. Avesh July 13th, 2015 at 5:54 pm #

I would let you call me Ishmael, I would give up a Hogwarts invitation and I would sacrifice a 50 Shades experience with my girlfriend just to be there…May the odds be ever in my favour!

  84. Ashley Raspal July 13th, 2015 at 5:56 pm #

What would I do for a Golden ticket….hmmm I would fight a bald headed man for his comb….. I would cut off one arm and then hang from a cliff, whilst having a very bad itch on my ass…..i would vote for Malema as President…..I would dance naked as if no one was watching……as you can see I would nearly do anything for a Golden ticket

  85. Daniel Pabu July 13th, 2015 at 5:58 pm #

To get my hands on a Preview Golden Ticket, I’d fight Voldemort in a dual to the death, I’d challenge Percy Jackson to a 50m pool dash, I’d beat Katniss with a bow, outsmart Tyrion Lannister, Steal one of Dirk Pitt’s cars, break on to the Oregon and claim it as my own, join H.I.V.E, take on Will Robie, beat Oliver Stone (John Carr) in a knife throwing competition, steal Alex Cross’ Piano and join Sam Vimes as he tries to survive a night in Ankh-Morprork.

  86. Leigh Toselli July 13th, 2015 at 6:01 pm #

What would a sale be if you can’t get in first – the joy of smugly boasting about your first-finds – will make the most coveted sale a feather in my hat!!!

  87. Jessica Robak July 13th, 2015 at 6:01 pm #

I would bungee and do a scad free fall at Soweto towers wearing an exclusive books shirt

  88. samantha de leca July 13th, 2015 at 6:02 pm #

    if I don’t win a golden ticket,
I would definitely have to picket,
but first I will submit my entry
and hope you find it complimentary.
on the first page of the first book I buy
I will draw the exclusive book logo
I will sprinkle it with cocoa
AND EAT IT! you ask why?

because an opportunity like this comes around only once,
and if I didn’t do something drastic to win, well ….I’d be a dunce!

  89. Christina July 13th, 2015 at 6:03 pm #

‘Avada Kedavra’ all unworthy Muggles, hide as many books as possible under my Invisibility Cloak and sneak a sock under your desk where I KNOW you keep a house-elf! Yes, I’m a Wizard.

  90. Lungile July 13th, 2015 at 6:05 pm #

I will give up my infatuation for series binge and recommit myself to my first love, Reading.

  91. Siyanda July 13th, 2015 at 6:06 pm #

I’d read to kids in underprivileged preschools or primary schools for a year once every month ☺️

  92. Gail Wilson July 13th, 2015 at 6:07 pm #

I would do many hours of reading to children as last year when I got there, there were no children’s books which I need for the various charities I contribute to.

  93. karien July 13th, 2015 at 6:08 pm #

I would walk barefoot all the way to the sale if only I could get a Golden Ticket

I would be one step closer to building a library I can pass on to my kids and their kids and their kids… and finally begin fighting the black people don’t read stereotype.

  97. PKlue July 13th, 2015 at 6:12 pm #

For a golden ticket I would take a days leave off work – as those who know me could tell you, this is unprecedented, since I never, ever take leave

  98. Erika July 13th, 2015 at 6:12 pm #

I would go to an orphan house and read stories to the small children.

  99. Charonike Nel July 13th, 2015 at 6:12 pm #

We will be driving all the way from Potch for the sale and would ride a porcupine without a saddle, and should Charlie (that’s the porcupine we will be stealing from the zoo in the middle of the night) get tired, I will then proceed to walk the rest of the way in a pair disco pink Crocs and a Native American head dress to the door with a black bag filled with R20 notes.

Should we get caught stealing Charlie, we will bribe the police officials like upstanding citizens, with bags and bags of bacon and Huisgenote, to drive us to the sale (but not with their blue lights, that is illegal, if we are wrong, we will have to purchase a legal book to correct ourselves).

  100. Leigh B July 13th, 2015 at 6:14 pm #

I would review every single book I buy! At least 100!

  101. Nadine July 13th, 2015 at 6:15 pm #

Pay it forward! The more books I buy, more of my books will have to find new homes to make room.

I love reading and would love to win this opportunity.

Whether I win the golden ticket or not, I will be at the sale to buy some wonderful books and support your charity.

  102. P.J. Scott July 13th, 2015 at 6:17 pm #

I would bring a trolley and help everyone carry there boxes filled with amazing R20 Exclusive Books. Last year I filled 4 boxes and bought books for family and friends, can only imagine how many books I would buy if I was allowed in for a sneak preview

  103. Bianca July 13th, 2015 at 6:23 pm #

I have a three old son and we love reading together. I’m unemployed so I can’t buy books for him and I haven’t bought book for myself in a while but we take out back from the library. With R20 I’ll definitely come out with a lot of books at the preview for the both of us. I’ll clean the floors at the warehouse just so I can get a ticket to the preview.

  107. Debbie July 13th, 2015 at 6:28 pm #

    What will I doo…
    What can I do??

  125. Bianca Le Cornu July 13th, 2015 at 7:07 pm #

Oh my gosh… I love books so much. I’m always buying to stock up my office as I’m a lecturer and want to keep the love of reading alive in my students as they use my office as their personal library :)… So, what would I do to get this amazing ticket? Well, something amazing of course! Compose a song and get my boyfriend’s band to perform it! Record it and post it all over Facebook, make a poster with the url for the video and stand at the robot shouting out how epic ‘exclusive’ is and how books will save the world… All while being dressed up in all the colours of the rainbow 🙂 hmmm, actually sounds like fun! :)… So really, you can see why I’m a good choice. The books I buy get used by more than just me. I instill the love of reading in the youth AND you could get a fun song out of it 😉 sounds like a perfect deal. Lol

  126. Gagoroth July 13th, 2015 at 7:07 pm #

And I would do not one thing, but all of the above things for a special ticket 🙂 But even if I don’t get a ticket – I’m there like a bear on the 29th – thank you for the amazing specials

  133. Bronwyn Misselhorn July 13th, 2015 at 7:21 pm #

If I won a golden ticket, chances are I wouldn’t be able to sleep until the day of the sale. I’d be thinking of all the memorable witty comments I should have made to win, but mildly satisfied with this mediocre one.

  134. Natashja July 13th, 2015 at 7:22 pm #

I usually go to the sale to stock up on books for the children’s home in sophiatown and the retirement village close by. This year i will volunteer at a public hospital and go read books for those being diagnosed with a terminal illness and less fortunate. I will donate R1 for each book sold on the first day of your sale to the charity of your choice.

  135. Celeste July 13th, 2015 at 7:24 pm #

Come Rain, Sunshine, Sitting on the beach, Relaxing in the lounge or having a peaceful moment with my book in bed……I love to read a book…it is definitely my thing in life…..nothing can compare especially when so engrossed in a good book.

  137. Miquette du Preez July 13th, 2015 at 7:28 pm #

    1. Will volunteer to read for audiobooks for the blind.
    2. Will donate all my unwanted books to charity.
    3. Will dress-up once a month as a children’s book character and volunteer to read to children from that book in hospitals, orphanages and underprivileged schools.
Because such a great initiative deserves not one but three good reasons!

  138. Brad July 13th, 2015 at 7:29 pm #

sacrifice. I would sacrifice a day of my honeymoon, to buy a bookshelf, to house what I will be buying

  139. Lynn July 13th, 2015 at 7:29 pm #

I would do the toughest thing known to women..give up wine for a week. I would probably be a raving lunatic by the end of the week but for some awesome books it would be worth it.

  140. Hamish July 13th, 2015 at 7:29 pm #

What would someone do to win a ticket? I would think a proper fanatic might be going through his/her Facebook feed to see who skipped a birthday wish. I mean with Facebook there is no excuse.

But what could actually equate to the giddy anticipation of receiving a Golden Ticket to the Warehouse sale, to be faced with the overwhelming sensation of anticipation and choice all rolled together served to you, would anyone know where to begin or what to choose or what to leave behind or could we possibly even justify sacrificing an extra Rand or two? There is nothing in this world that could come close to holding a book, nothing comes close to the excite of an unfolding story or the understanding of knowledge or the entertainment of words.

So what would I give? Nothing. Why because to compare anything of this world to the power of a single book would to undermine and demean the power of reading.

    HHP

  141. Nicole weier July 13th, 2015 at 7:30 pm #

I would willingly eat gluten and be sick for months to get my hands on one of those tickets. Reading books is my way of relaxing and having me time.

  142. Melanie M July 13th, 2015 at 7:30 pm #

I’d pee in my pants I’d be so excited and take a months leave to read all my books!

  144. Talora Jacobs July 13th, 2015 at 7:43 pm #

I would travel to the ends of the earth, I would hitchike my way across the universe. I would watch as Elizabeth and Mr Darcy fall in love, I would be there for Hazel when Gus dies, I would help Quentin find Margo, I would be Divergent, I would be the child of a Greek god and help Percy save his friends. I would try and talk Bella out of marrying Edward. I would fight in the great war and help Harry defeat Voldemort. I would watch Eleanor & Park’s story unfold. I would try and befriend Charlie and that would be a perk.

The point is, there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do.

  145. Motlatjo Matsapola July 13th, 2015 at 7:46 pm #

Imaginations are like trees and books are the seeds. The branches are ideas and the leaves are them running wild. With fantasies of our favourite characters and dreams bigger than the moon. This is the enchanted tree I would plant for such a ticket like yours!

  157. Klea July 13th, 2015 at 9:04 pm #

  160. Munira Hoosain July 13th, 2015 at 9:36 pm #

I would ditch my lectures, book a ticket to JHB and fly down from Cape Town! I’d also give away a whole lot of my currently owned books to people who need them more!

  161. Lisl Barnes July 13th, 2015 at 9:56 pm #

It’s simple. I will continue to be me, mom to a little girl who will forever be 3y8m (and was crazy about books), wife to a hard working husband and the only daughter to two parents who taught me to love reading. But I will also have the opportunity to grow into a “better me”. Because finding a book that has meaning, finding a book that makes an impact on your life, finding a book that moves you forward all takes time. Time that you don’t have during the rush-and-hurry of a sale. Time that you get by being among a select few.
And those life lessons will be passed on to my friend’s children, and maybe even mine (if I were to have more).

  162. Joan July 13th, 2015 at 10:10 pm #

I will learn Braille so that when I go blind from reading all the books I will get at the warehouse sale, I can carry on reading with my fingers 😉

  163. Rashmita July 13th, 2015 at 10:19 pm #

‘Golden Ticket’…I always thought I’d be gobbling up many Wonker Bars for that win but now we’re dealing with books from my favourite store, Exclusive Books. What would I do to win a Golden Ticket? Well I would do absolutely anything, including taking part in a chocolate-free diet, Yikes! My first task would be to entertain, give gifts and chocolates (the delicious, creamy and chocolatey ones I saved when I was on the chocolate-free diet- oh the torture) to the managers and head staff at Exclusive Books in hopes that they will agree to make me the winner, yay 😀 . I’d even be the cleaner at the Exclusive Books store and work over-time. I’d even eat broccoli just to win this amazing ticket, yucky! I can’t really say I’d give all my books away to charity since I don’t have many reading books at home, they are abit pricey for me but my love for reading has never died despite this little set back, I go daily to a local library (I’ve probably read each book atleast twice) and spend most of my day there getting lost in the thought of the author and wearing the shoes of the character. I love visiting Exclusive Books because they have a red seat just for me (well I call it mine because its always available to me when I’m there) and every book I’ve dreamt of. Books have developed me, the are my life and my future and I’d do anything to get more books. When I do have enough, I’ll open up my own library some day and hopefully become an author of my own collection and I can do it by starting here 🙂 .

  164. Marileen Steyn July 13th, 2015 at 10:23 pm #

I will volunteer at the sale and bring an extra pair of hands to the cause. You’ll find me to be very convincing when it comes to encouraging people to take part in a good cause.

I would trade my dogs and baby for 8 hours. So I can get to buy them and myself books and indirect baby and dog sitting from 9am to 4pm

  166. Amy Pearson July 13th, 2015 at 10:27 pm #

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that…” this avid reader in possession of a golden ticket would face a thousand dementors, spend a century in the presence of the utterly unpleasant Peter Van Houtan, willingly submit to yhe torture of the Hunger games, miss the tea party with the mad hatter, decline Mr Darcy for his hand in marriage, travel through Dante’s inferno three times over, ignore an invite from Miss Haversham to Satis House, be unavailable to help solve a problem like Maria (von Trapp), be unable to feel the woe of Juliet and her Romeo, but most importantly set aside these and other novels long enough to step out of the world that is the library of my mind, long enough to peruse the tables of the Exclusive Books Warehouse sale in search of my next great, timeless adventure.

  167. Friedel van Tonder July 13th, 2015 at 11:19 pm #

I have literally never won anything before. How great would it be to win something, to do one of my favourite things EVER! Buying books, and adding them to my collection. (Obviously, I would read them too)

  168. Yaseerah July 13th, 2015 at 11:24 pm #

I would visit every single Exclusive Books store in South Africa and buy one or more books each time, thus ensuring i’ve completed the to be read list of ‘Exclusive Books- 101 books to read before you die’

I would take along young children in my family to the book sale so they can buy books to give as gifts to children in poorer communities (where my family comes form) who cannot afford them. The promise is that all children would read the books together before handing over to promote the fun and culture of reading.

  171. Annique July 14th, 2015 at 4:34 am #

To win golden ticket, I would bake brownies to thank all the staff at the warehouse who work so hard to make this possible.

  172. Shawn July 14th, 2015 at 4:35 am #

I am donating all my old books to a local charity to make space for all the new books i’ll be getting with my golden ticket!!

  173. serisha pillay July 14th, 2015 at 5:17 am #

I will donate the same value of money for the books I buy to a children’s charity on behalf of exclusive books

  174. Shirley Lacy July 14th, 2015 at 5:19 am #

I cannot give as clever answers as above, but for a gilden ticket, I would give up all choccies and sweets for the month of August for a ticket, and commit to exercise twice a day, everyday, if I get that ticket

  175. Kevin July 14th, 2015 at 6:06 am #

For the fun of it … I would do all my book shopping in full drag and high heels for the day at exclusive books 🙂

If I win a golden ticket, I will give as many books as possible a good home where they will be loved, cherished and treated as part of the family. They will get lots of attention, will never be abused or misused and every night they’ll cuddle up in bed with me.

  178. Melissa July 14th, 2015 at 6:34 am #

I would do absolutely anything to get that Golden Ticket, nothing is off the table. You could put me in a crocodile pen…get me to eat live worms…not watch Magic Mike XXL…I’m not kidding. 🙂 Anything goes. I’d even be willing to sit through a torture session of High School Musical. That is how much that Golden Ticket means to me.

  179. Tess Sulaman July 14th, 2015 at 6:37 am #

I would buy 50 books for an underprivileged school to win a golden circle ticket. But I wouldn’t read 50 Shades of Grey to win. That’s a line I just can’t cross.

  180. Ernest Bellingan Scott July 14th, 2015 at 6:39 am #

Last year was a great but hectic & crazy experience like children in a sweet shop for the first time. I will be well prepared for the hoards this year & bring my own bags to carry.

  182. Shaun July 14th, 2015 at 6:48 am #

To tell you the truth there really isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to get my hands on that Golden Ticket!

    – I’d Bungee jump (I’m scared of heights)
    – I’d salsa dance naked straight through the middle of Sandton in rush hour traffic!
    – I’d swim in a tank full of parktown prawns and then I’d eat them all with a creamy mushroom sauce.
    – i’d sell my right kidney!!!
    – I’d help old ladies cross the road!

I’LL DO ANYTHING.. Except drugs, murder or prostitution. 🙂

I will do anything. I have already put it in all my calendars i have put ten reminders on my phone, laptop, iPad. For me me knowledge is life with out we perish. I;m an architecture student and i would love to learn so much more about other professions and grow to new levels i could never imagine. I want to change the world in order to do that i must educate myself and grab every opportunity i have with both hands. This will also give me a chance to purchase some books for less fortunate children back home (Zimbabwe) they have a huge desire to learn but very little opportunities to do so, so this will be my chance to help as little as i can. Knowledge is key, knowledge is power, knowledge is life.

I will promote exclusive books on all of my social media feeds! I will tell everyone about it! I would love to win this to buy books for my mother! She is such a big reader (finishes a book in one evening) and always wants(needs) new books. This is where I got my love for books from! She is the most giving mother and i would love to give her something. We will also give books that we have completed to charities! Please allow me this opportunity! PLEASE

  188. Herina Korver July 14th, 2015 at 8:04 am #

  192. Raquel de Sousa July 14th, 2015 at 8:46 am #

    Mmmmm what wouldn’t I do 😉
I need these books for a book club but I would do what I do every year when you have your massive sale. I would get a whole load of children books and donate them to the childrens’ wing in Bara. To make it extra special, I would get a group of my friends and we would set up book reading sessions for the little ones 🙂 That would be lovely!

  193. Phathie July 14th, 2015 at 8:52 am #

I would give up a pound of flesh but won’t shed a drop of blood #TheMerchantOfVenice #ILoveReading #Exclusive books #Golden Ticket

  195. Senzo Dhlomo July 14th, 2015 at 8:54 am #

In desperate need of new paper backs. Not as easy anymore to spend money on paperbacks and this opportunity is too good to pass up for me – an avid reader

  196. Melissa Brouard July 14th, 2015 at 9:03 am #

I am moving to France in a month. my biggest fear is not the fact that I cannot speak French but rather that I will not find English books!! I have already shipped all my book so currently have nothing to read as I have moved to Joberg from Durban a month ago and don’t have a library card. I want to get some kids book to donate to WeAreDurban which is a charity I help out with.

  197. Chantal July 14th, 2015 at 9:07 am #

I am an avid reader … and would love to pass on my love for reading to others. Having a golden ticket would allow me to extend my collection, as well as give others less fortunate than me the opportunity to have their own books

  198. Mbali July 14th, 2015 at 9:16 am #

I started saving 2 months ago, I handed my leave today, called the Wife and demanded that she get leave (you need an army to help you shop, 4 eyes are better than 2) and I am spending EVERYTHING on this sale. Celebs have their day: movie premiers, endorsements, fashion, jewelry etc. In my calendar, THIS IS MY DAY!!! I am not anti-social, I am a book fiend. Bibliophiles unite!!! **whoop whoop*

  199. Anita July 14th, 2015 at 9:31 am #

Any good children books keeping our little ones educated at all times while enjoying the adventures of their favorite authors , couldn’t ask for anything better!!

  200. Kumi July 14th, 2015 at 9:33 am #

I have been preparing for this sale for the last month, with daily weight training at the gym. You do need to be fit to carry all the books you will buy.
So I am pretty much willing to put my body and not just my mind on the line to get a early ticket.

  201. JACKIE July 14th, 2015 at 9:43 am #

with a golden ticket I would match every book I buy wit a children’s book to donate to some needy schools, so that I can teach some children the love of books and reading

  202. Mayuri July 14th, 2015 at 9:44 am #

I would setup an online book club for people who enjoy reading but who cannot afford to buy books. Buying the books at the warehouse sale would help build an inventory to get started. Its either that or assault a police officer!! 🙂

  203. Carol July 14th, 2015 at 9:57 am #

I would read to my son 3 books a night! He loves bedtime stories so much but can only read one story to him per night. He loves books so much and always wants more stories, but we run out of books so quickly! I love that I have an avid reader so full of imagination!

  204. Koketso Kau July 14th, 2015 at 10:02 am #

A Golden ticket in this instance would be my one way ticket to a realm of imperishable reverie. (Give or take 20 novels,) I’d probably develop a vitamin D deficiency seeing as I won’t be going outside for a WHILE…none the less, my fingers are itching to turn crisp pages. My nostrils flare in anticipation to inhale the smell of a new book and I’ve got copious book marks at ready!

  205. Koketso Kau July 14th, 2015 at 10:05 am #

I’d crack the spin of my book…

  206. Joshua Cherinet Liramo-Gudiso July 14th, 2015 at 10:08 am #

*PLEASE Disregard my previous answers, I did not reply what you wanted:
Well, from primary school I have struggled to make friends but then during break time I found a passion , reading books from the library! I have had a difficult and emotional school life but I have again picked up reading adult books even though I’m 15! This warehouse sale golden ticket and the warehouse in general will mean I will get the chance to own some more books even though financial times are and in effect add more books to my collection!
SO I would Give Up Going to the LIBRARY FOR at Least a month or two Or as long as it takes to get through what I have bought! Please please this book reader!!

  207. Jacobus van den Bergh July 14th, 2015 at 10:21 am #

To get a ticket, to this most illustrious sale of books, I would do the following…

Tame the dragon, leave the princess, fly over Mordor, find a large enough Door to fly the dragon through a Narnian shortcut, flame any wizards, witches or warlocks in my way. I also solemnly swear to park the dragon, lock it down, and feed it somewhere on the way to ensure nobody get’s eaten. (Considerate of me, don’t you think?)

  208. Ayesha Malagas July 14th, 2015 at 10:25 am #

  211. Julia July 14th, 2015 at 11:05 am #

I buy for my mad-keen reader kids, and to give to their friends as birthday presents, because I can’t get over how some parents don’t buy books for their kids! Madness.

  212. kasturi July 14th, 2015 at 11:18 am #

  222. Carl Fredrickson July 14th, 2015 at 5:26 pm #

I’m a grumpy old man and don’t want a Golden ticket! I bet the sale won’t amaze me and I would rather be trying to fly my balloon house to South America than buying books! I dare you to prove me wrong! ಠ_ಠ (I have to stop typing now and go scream at some child outside).

  223. lindi katzoff July 14th, 2015 at 5:36 pm #

I would make sure that i would buy books for those children who do not have money and the means to get books from this amazing store.

  227. Zinèt Oosthuizen July 14th, 2015 at 8:54 pm #

    I’m an absolute read-o-holic!
I will gladly trade my husband for a good read.
Afterwards, hubby can return and I will donate my book to another read-freak to help spread the joy!

  228. Raseen Saint July 14th, 2015 at 10:26 pm #

I’ve read some, if not all, the responses posted. What seems to escape most of the respondents here is that the only way to actually get a Golden Ticket is to comment on what they would do to get such a ticket. Camping outside, changing gender, making donations etc would, in my view, be futile since neither of those actions would meet the criterion required. It states clearly above that all I need to do to win a ticket is to respond with what I would do to get a ticket. And that is exactly what I would do. I would simply respond to this thread as asked and as I hereby do.

  229. Lorissa July 14th, 2015 at 11:10 pm #

I would do just about anything for the golden ticket!!

Reading has played a huge roll In turning my life around for the better and I would be so grateful to extend my collection while helping out the community!

I’d be happy to read at the charities! My mom and I are absolutely eager!

    Please give us tickets!!

I’d stand on the road with funky clothes and boreds just to advertise for you!!
And I’d come to the sale dressed as my favourite character in a novel! And post it on my social media platforms and tag you guys!

Please please please can I have a ticket for my mom and I!

We would be eternally grateful xo

  230. Jo July 15th, 2015 at 7:01 am #

  231. Anna Bosman July 15th, 2015 at 7:09 am #

I will jump for joy, I love reading as it is my alone time, need books on how to grieve the loss of a child and all spiritual books to help me cope.

  236. Tina July 15th, 2015 at 3:08 pm #

I would… Complete my incomplete book collections, as well as dress up as my favourite fictional character for the preview. The catch is that you will only find out who that character is if I am the chosen one. Chosen one meaning one of the 20 chosen one’s of course. So pick me pick me

  237. Patience Matjeke July 15th, 2015 at 4:03 pm #

Mmmmmh I would give my time to work weekends for a month or two or three for free!!! I need the golden ticket

  238. Maria July 15th, 2015 at 4:39 pm #

I would sell a kidney (or any other vital organ) to get in there early. Books are my life and I would kill to get in there early. Figuratively. (Or not figuratively)
Honestly would give more than that! I am going to put the backseats of my car down to make space for all the books I’m going to buy.

  239. Zaidah July 15th, 2015 at 6:05 pm #

    Books to the ceiling,
    Books to the sky,

    Books books
    Everywhere!

I can feel it in the way my heart pumps,
    Tightening,
As if my quickened pulse will bring you to me faster.

    Jodi Picoult,Lee Child,Dr Seuss
    DO I DARE?

    Books books
    Everywhere!

I’ll spend all my parents money,
    Withdraw all my savings,
    Do something inhumane,
    Commit all possible crimes,
Till the police chase after me
And lock me in your warehouse.

Nora Roberts, Robin Cook, Wilbur Smith
    I’ll take that.

    Books books
    Everywhere,

    Yes I do
    I SURE DO DARE!

  240. Joshua July 15th, 2015 at 10:41 pm #

To accrue the ticket in question, I would agree to not read any books for three months after the event. Let’s be honest: the only thing worse than that is agreeing to it for four months.

  241. Elize July 15th, 2015 at 11:05 pm #

I will paint Michelangelo’s ceiling painting of the Sistine chapel against the warehouse’s ceiling in half the time he did.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sistine_chapel.jpg

  242. Wendy July 16th, 2015 at 4:31 am #

I would spend my whole salary just to buy books because reading is like dreaming, just with your eyes open!

  243. Khalida July 16th, 2015 at 5:00 am #

I will donate a book to charity for every new book i buy

  245. Maureen July 16th, 2015 at 8:37 am #

For me to get the books at R20.00 it will be a blessing and it will sustain our elderly book club at the centre I have 60 elderly who are in our book club group.

  246. Judy July 16th, 2015 at 9:28 am #

I would give up my birthday presents (July 29!), chocolate, coffee, the internet (!), dstv catch up, basically all forms of civilisation for a week, ok two weeks, maybe even for the whole of August for a Golden Ticket. Did I mention its my birthday on July 29, so what better birthday present?

  247. Nicolene Smith July 16th, 2015 at 9:43 am #

What will I DO to get a golden ticket (with the emphasis on DO):
I will CLIMB a thousand mountains to raise “A Banner in the Sky” (James Ramsay Ullman).
I will “SWIM with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive” (Harvey Mackay).
I will RUN with Wazir from “The Kite Runner” (Khaled Hosseini).
I will FIGHT the “Dragons at Crumbling Castle” (Terry Pratchett).
I will SEE “Where Men Sit” (Katlyn Charlesworth).
I will “EAT, PRAY, Love” (Elizabeth Gilbert).
I will PLAY “The Lying Game” (Sara Shepard).
I will STAND although “The Winner Stands Alone” (Paulo Coelho).
The ultimate question of what to DO at the end of the day is, “To READ or not to READ” (Vincent Hobbes).

  248. Natasha July 16th, 2015 at 9:51 am #

    Hmmm, let’s see.
What are a few things that I would never do if an Exclusive Books Warehouse Sale Preview Golen Ticket wasn’t involved?
    *strokes nonexistent beard*
Well, for starters, I would shave all my hair off. That, or I could bleach it, dye it every colour of the rainbow or wear it in high pigtails for the rest of my life.
I’d read Fifty Shades of Grey out loud to my grandma.
I’d give up ice cream and chocolate.
I’d take up the profession of shoveling cow dung for an hour every day.
I’d get a pet rain spider and keep it in a glass jar right next to my bed, and leave the lid partially open.
I’d give up my first born child.

I think that that accurately describes what I’d be willing to do.

  249. yusuf July 16th, 2015 at 10:16 am #

I would sell my first born. Then at least i can buy books to read to my second son even at 10 days old

My daughter is 10 years old. She is a classic bookworm and she reads a book a week. i just cannot keep up with her!

  251. Sesese Masondo July 16th, 2015 at 1:16 pm #

A house without books is like a room without windows

  266. Anoushka July 17th, 2015 at 11:20 am #

This sale is The Talk Of The Town! I’ve waited A Thousand And One Nights for it, writing down in my Golden Notebook all the books I want.

With a golden ticket, if I could, I would buy 1984 or even 1977 books! I’d probably not see the Light of Day for a while, tucked away with my books. It would be the Vanishing Point for me, especially if there are any Threepenny Novels.

I have just the place for all those books – in A Room With A View, under The Picture of Dorian Gray. At the moment, This Beautiful Room is Empty.

It would be a Disgrace not to give a golden ticket to such A Suitable Boy (I’m a girl by the way – but not Emma or Jane Eyre or Elizabeth Costello or Alice B. Toklas or the Red Queen. I’m just me – Out of Africa)

  267. Danielle July 17th, 2015 at 12:12 pm #

I would reorganize all the books in alphabetical order!!

  268. Jessica July 17th, 2015 at 1:28 pm #

For every book I buy at the warehouse sale, I will donate one of my own books to charity if I win a golden ticket! Given that I plan on buying a lot of books, I plan on donating a lot! Almost a whole new book collection 🙂

The big Exclusive sale is the highlight of my year. I would really appreciate a Golden ticket.

  270. Christelle Kotze July 17th, 2015 at 2:01 pm #

I would most probably kiss a crocodile for a ticket..
To be at the sale before the rush would be awesome – I am going to buy books for some schools in my area that needs it.. and I am going to stock up on pressies for a lot of friends and family 🙂

  271. Marc Nuthall July 17th, 2015 at 2:19 pm #

  273. Corné July 17th, 2015 at 2:52 pm #

With or without a golden ticket, I am buying extra books to donate to certain libraries in Pretoria North and West, as well as to children’s homes and disadvantaged schools. Forms part of Mandela day (month). Give the gift of education!

What would I give up? Nothing, because when you have a book you always have a friend. But, there are many less fortunate then myself who have never had the simple pleasure of reading a book and one that speaks to their soul. So I would use my golden ticket to (yes purchase a few books for myself), but also to donate to both the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital Senior Ward as well as the Frida Hartley Centre. They deserve the pleasure and pure joy of reading more than anyone i know.

I’ll donate blood and volunteer at an SPCA/Zoo for 3 months. In that order.

Great initiative, I would donate another R 100 for every book I buy.

I would skip all the tests I am writing that day just to be there when the sale opens. I am a huge fan and would do just about anything!!!*

I will slowly walk over scorching coal till I arrive at a shark infested pool where I will fend off the great whites and rescue a mermaid. Now with a mermaid on my back I will climb over the erupting volcano, dancing over the bubbling lava keeping the mermaid safe because when I reach the other side, I make a trade I give you mermaid for a golden ticket. A golden ticket that allows me to re-enter worlds such as the one above.
